A Collection of Paintings by Kara Nelson

Exhibition Dates: August 1st - 31st ~ Artists Reception: Friday August 5th 6-9 PM.
4731 Telegraph Ave. Oakland Ca. ~ OPEN DAILY 12 - 10 PM
Artist Kara Nelson uses her own trash to make paintings. She combines paper, fabric, and plastic with other materials such as paint, and color pencil to create vibrant, patterned landscapes that are reminiscent of the temperate forests of the pacific northwest. By using recognizable trash such as payroll envelopes, she draws attention to the everyday items that most of us use, and dispose of. By using trash to paint her colorful, and inviting landscapes, she gives the materials themselves a longer life. Her painting process has become her way of recycling.
